I'm looking through my Great-Uncle's collection and found this little gem.

He said he's left the inside untouched bc he believes it was a perfume bottle back in the day and could still have perfume residue left on the inside.

Could y'all help me date this and also confirm his suspicions of it being a perfume bottle? I'm assuming it's a pre-1900s bottle because there isn't a mold line through the lip, and it has a pretty primitively cut foot.

Thanks! It also has an open pontil, but I don't have a photo of it, and don't have access to it to take one right now:/

If it's open Pontil probably dates from around 1840's-early 1860's is my guess but i'm no expert. Looks that old to me with the thin flared lip. Also agree it looks more like a Perfume. Nice Bottle, Could have good Value possibly. LEON.

Wow that's a very nice bottle! And I agree that it's probably a perfume, not sure what else something ornate like that would be in that size.

Perfume, 1840s-1850s. Very nice! Hopefully his collection has lots of bottles of similar quality.

Perfume or scent, 1840s to 1860s generally and a nice bottle to find in the family collection.
