Antique sponge drain

I dug this odd metal basket looking thing the other day. I thought it was a light fixture guard but it has no chase for the wiring. After searching for a while I found it online. Apparently it is an antique victorian wall mounted sponge drain. Very heavy nickel plated brass. This one was the only one of this type that online i could find with the angled wall mount attached to the basket. Most have the straps meant for hanging over the lip of a clawfoot tub. Kind of big for my sink lol!

Nice Large Basket shaped antique nickel brass wall mounted Sponge Holder. Would be great to hold shampoo, brushes and accessories. Overall good condition. Basket is - 5 7/8" off the wall. x 3 1/2" deep x 8" wide.

I had a girlfriend that liked the old natural sponges that we used in the bathtub. They were always big and odd shaped. That holder would have been perfect for them.

They certainly were large enough to hold a plethora of shower item. It's almost as big as my sink. Funny because my ceramic one barely holds a travel bar of soap.

I find porcelain soap ,spong holder's that are in good shape clean up nicely but have a small chip in them. I'll find and post. If it can be repaired, would look really nice.

I'm looking at your 1st pic--WOW! That really is almost as big as your sink! Today's plastic jobbies that hang off the shower nozzle just don't compare. CONGRATS.
