what would this shape be called ?

Maybe a wine bottle ?

Definitely some sort of alcohol, probably of European origin and dating to the mid-20th century. It may once have been covered in wicker. Hard to say what exact beverage it held but wine is a good guess.

Your bottle, reelpro, looks like a European wine or brandy bottle from mid 20th century. It surely is machine made and the lip has that improved modern shape. The color is that traditional shade and tint of liquor bottles of that era and region. it's a shape that isn't often seen tho....
