Found an ad from 1960. The ad shows a can, so I see from your bottle they had one-ways also. Only seen ads from the late 1950's to the early 1960's. Mainly north eastern states.

It is definitely not a screw top. It has 2 layers, 1 wider than the other, and what you saw was the same all the way around.

Definitely not a screw top. I am a soda bottle guy and only have but one or two beer bottles in my collection. A friend gave me this bottle many years ago and its dated 1972. It has a pull tab top with a wide mouth that was popular for only a few years. Your bottle had a top like this.
