Authentic Buffalo Jar ??

i am wondering if this is authentic. i see so many google images of the strong, straight embossing. real buffalo? any other info is much appreciated

i believe it was made in Buffalo New York between 1886 and 1888.. by the Ball Brothers glass company before a fire devastated the factory and they moved to muncie Indiana. im trying to figure out if it is the real mcCoy. need pro advice

It doesn't appear to have a ground top which would help date it. Most preserve jars with smooth tops are after 1900.

Learning along the way, but how smooth did they grind them? It looks pretty rough to me. But most of my experience is in the marble world with ground/faceted pontils etc. so it's probably apples to oranges

I'm sorry breynolds, but I've got to disagree with you on this.... It may be because i've got a large monitor for my computer, but I clearly see a ground top on this jar. Friendly disagreement...
