Well, didn't I have a day yesterday! Bin to this spot countless times over the years - we call it "The Field of Shattered Dreams" as the bottom is littered with old smashed glass and crockery. So, there I was, scanning the field for possibilities, when a glint of blue caught my eye; investigating, I was gobsmacked to see an intact siphon, sitting 3' off the bottom, cradled by a stack of current-assembled logs! Only the 2nd intact item I've ever found there! How it survived, and how it climbed the woodpile, I'll never know. It is a Pilgrim Bros. siphon, with the classic eagle crest. Just a bit of road rash for 120 years of submersion. Wonders never cease! Also shown is a pretty blue inkwell, which now acts as a stand for the marble; and, a piece of a quart bottle, saying "Bottling Works":

Wow that siphon is a stunner! It's sure not every day that you find one of those intact, and yours is in fantastic condition. Could you post a picture of the etched graphics? Don't think I've seen that one before.

so many bottlers used the name " bottling works " in there name it be hard to figure out who's bottle it was , unless there is a common bottling works bottle or company from that area .

a lot of stuff can survive fairly well under water , even larger items , finding an intact siphon not common but not entirely impossible I guess

Those siphons are actually really solidly built, it doesn't surprise me that it stayed intact after being tossed overboard. I didn't know that the tops would manage to survive in the water without corrosion for so long though, and it's quite lucky that the fragile glass straw inside managed to survive.
