My first post here my son has been finding loads of bottles while grading a site . A lot of 1800s bottles from out west . Any information on this Jug ? Selters Nassau .

This style of "jug" was heavily imported from various European countries, predominantly German during 1he 1880's. Most contained a type of mineral water or seltzer. You'll notice they were hand made with applied ring handle and the concentric marks on the bottom was typical of "string" removal of the the potters wheel which most all of these bottle show. I've found quite a few in this area of Western PA. and have two that are complete with cork, contents, and seal.
