not that uncommon to come across small snakes here where searching for bottles , not 100 % sure what type of snake this one was , might be an eastern water snake . it was in a grassly / leave area near some wetlands near a road

I took a picture cause I though it was neat , very friendly barely even moved or did anything when I was nearby

yet to ever see the massassuga rattler snake which is native to my area although more common along Georgian bay , mostly see garter snakes which are common here

Looks like an Eastern Hognose to me. They are harmless but grow pretty big will puff up like a Cobra if threatened (which usually scares people more). I believe they are considered endangered species in Ontario

Looks to me like a common water snake, nerodia sipedon. That's really cool to spot, I've never come across one before!

pretty sure its a watersnake , I have a book on Ontario snakes ( its from the 70's or 80's ) by Ontario ministry natural resources . I looked thru it and water snake the only one which seemed like it

Must be nice to have water snakes that don't kill you. Water moccasin snakes here are very aggressive and very poisonous.!

Yeah I don't envy you guys who live in places where you have to worry about getting bitten by something venomous. Only thing I worry about getting bitten by here is ticks with lyme disease. And coyotes I guess.
