Can someone tell me what a hell is this please?

Hi all. I found this strange thing today. The pontils I know are scarce made by iron items but this is a tube of glass.

Just a rough pontil in my opinion. I have bottles that have a good chunk of glass still attached and usually on larger bottles. It’s possible the maker knew there was an issue and just broke it off and discarded it without worrying about finish.

Looks like the top and bottom of what would've been a beautiful open pontiled demijohn. Great color, Al.
