Cannot locate what this OI bottle with a peculiar design from 1939 would have held

The bottom says Pat Des 79296 and it’s made at plant 7 in 1939. I’m surprised I couldn’t locate it already by patent number or by having seen a similar bottle design before. The top is not a crown but a twist off.

It looks like a fruit juice bottle to me, my best guess is lime juice since it looks quite similar to a Rose's Lime Cordial bottle. I've never heard of Crosse and Blackwell making juice but it's definitely possible they did at some point in their history.

Thank you so much!

I found this in Baltimore so I’m thinking it is from 1929 and not 1939 since that patent was submitted for approval in 1928 and not approved until 1929. It was only for a period of 7 years too.

You're welcome

I couldn't find an actual bottle like yours - but I did find this ad from 1932 that depicts the bottle - which confirms they were using it at least as early as 1932. Your particular bottle was made by the Owens Illinois Glass Company - which was established in 1929 when the Owens Glass Co. and the Illinois Glass Co. merged to become Owens-Illinois. The number 7 is a designation for their plant located in Alton, Illinois.

I saw some other ads that said Lime Cup, Orange Cup, and Lemon Cup were mixers for alcohol

Thanks!

I knew this bottle was an unusual one because of that design on it but this certainly helps unlock the mystery on it.
