Hey all! My great Uncle has collected bottles since the 70s and now wants my help selling his vast collection. I'll probably be on here with lots of questions bc y'all are much more knowledgeable than I am on bottles!

This is a black glass bottle he estimated to be from ~1820s with an open pontil and a seal for Chateau Margaux. I haven't been able to find anything about the seal, as it doesn't match any of Chateau Margaux's past logos or bottle designs. Would y'all say 1820s is a good estimate for its age?

Personally, I wouldn't disagree with that date estimate. Nice bottle! How and when will you be selling the collection?

Champagnes are notoriously hard to date, since they have kept the same shape through the years. The elongated neck and crude pontil are what make me lean earlier.
