Sounds good to me, the bottom has a 76x.on it if that matters, thanksI'd guess the Mason jar is from 1910's-1920's. The A is dropped, there's no triple L and the underscore is there. Plus, the opened loop "B" bottom.
That barrel, no idea. It's cool though.
I've got a bunch of lids, my guess is if a magnet doesn't stick to it, it's zinc? It was bottle after bottle today, all condiments.Mailman,
The Ball Mason does looks like a ground lip with a "dropped a" in the script all right. Moodorf nailed it. They made a lot of these but its almost always worthwhile picking up a canning jar that's in good condition. If I had to guess, maybe $10-15. Now you need a zinc lid that fits to get it ready.
I'm kind of "stuck over a barrel" on your clay find. Just looking I might say desktop humidor but something tells me it perhaps held something dangerous. Something liquid maybe that over time seeped into the clay? (Any stains?) --Find the lid to that barrel next time you're in that area where you found it. Then hopefully, the mystery will be solved. Nice job.
BEER!!!!!You just need one that says "Ball" on the top. (You really don't have to have one with the white porcelain liner underneath...) Just make sure it fits w/o forcing it on.
All condiments? That's a a dilly of a pickle! So you've found the pantry items--what aisle are you going to be in next time? Good hunting!
