Creek bed bottles

I was out walking the creek bed with my family today when we found 3 bottles all still intact no issues just the label missing but still have the metal caps and thought I would share.

Are they from the 1970's?
Also did they hand from that lip right under the top opening?

I think these are either from the 70s or the 80s. Probably more towards the 80s with that styrofoam label. And as far as I know that bulge in the neck was there to hold onto to make them easier to carry.

Are they 2 liter? I think that is the design they used on them.

I remember seeing these at the stores during the late 70's-80's and then repurposed by workers at the fireman's carnivals in the 80's being used for the ring toss games. They would give you 2 litre bottles of soda if you ringed one. Me and a buddy ringed about 20 together in about 20 minutes before they told us to get lost. They used to also hand out those melted stretched soda bottles (2-3 foot tall) as prizes during the same time period

I still have mine from a trip I had with my parents to the Sussex County Fair. I was 9 at the time. It was filled with colored sand but i drained it out. Crazy I held on to it all these years (50)and it never was broken. 1969 acl Coka-Cola from Rockford, Ill.

Thank you for your reply. I was not sure. That bulge sure does make it easier to carry. I for some reason thought that they hung up at the store. Honestly if that was the case and they fell that would be a heck of a disaster.

They are 64 oz. bottles. You can still make out a little of the Styrofoam wrapper of the coke bottle.

Thank you for the reply. I thought they were cool. I was an 80's kid but born in 1981 and didn't drink a whole lot of coke or pepsi so I did not remember these.
