I was walking a local creek looking for bottles while the water level was down, and found this bad boy sticking out of the mud. Parts of it are missing, but it will sit on my shelf proudly.

Whole would've been better, but this mark makes it a keeper. Happy hunting!

That's quite a find! Any marked New Lexington piece is very tough to come by!

I'm not sure exactly what you have. I looked at the porcelain guide and there are only seven documented marked New Lexington styles. I'm going to guess this is a U-746 with the lower skirt broken off, but please keep in mind I'm not well-versed in this type of porcelain.

Since you happen to be in New Lexington... any chance the creek was near the porcelain company dumping grounds? It would be worth going back and checking it out, and see if you find more pieces.

Bill is correct. ANY New Lexington, O marked porcelain is quite scarce and collectible, even in that condition. I suspect if you were going to sell it you could get quite a bit for it. Check that creek more carefully.

I agree on the rarity. Imagine shipping on this though. It's about a yard of concrete, full of the same insulator in different colors, and they're all marked. Unfortunately, you can see up close that they're all shattered from the concrete stressing them. This was found quite a distance away from the factory site, but I have found fragments of NL insulators as far as 2 miles from town. I think that just like the local tile business, scrap was given away for fill. This is the first marked piece that I have found away from the factory.
