Whelp, I was back in Peoria for my sister's wedding (husband is a good dude) and managed a few short digs. I got plenty of common stuff, sodas milks etc. which aren't pictured but did bring back to WY the nice portable smalls which are pictured. Got 2 more of the BIM 1920s "Best and Jordan Peoria, ILL" druggists (in business from 1921-1937) which I always enjoy pulling from this dump though these are pretty sickly, a sample size ABM Hind's Honey and Almond Cream (nothing special but I like how heavily embossed they are), a nice Peptenzyme pocket bottle, and the undisputed gem of the dig, a BIM "Worner's Rattler Oil Phoenix Ariz." likely from the early 1910s.

A 2 ouncer, other Best and Jordan is a 1/2 oz.

The Rattler Oil was actually a genuine snake oil (though the remaining contents smell like petroleum, so they probably diluted the rattlesnake oil with cheap stuff). Check this interesting ad from the Pittston Gazette (PA), 10 Nov 1911:

I saw that one without a label sold for 60.00 several months ago, which is pretty darn good for meds from the 1910s. Regarding Wyoming bottle hunting... it sucks lol, but I did scrape out an earlier applied-lip Davis' Vegetable Pain killer a few days ago, almost certainly from the Territorial days. I did find a few marginally promising spots but will have to wait for the river to recede before I can see if anything decent is to be had. I miss my Peoria dumps. [:(] Happy hunting people!

Thanks, it obviously needs more cleaning, but I plan to empty and save the contents, separate the oil from the water that seeped in, filter it, and re-cork it because "rattlesnake oil" as the original contents is pretty darn interesting and would probably slightly enhance the general appeal.

Love that snake oil and thanks for doing the homework on the ad and for posting it. That's a great find and would like to see the end result when you are done.

Thanks guys, it is the first Arizona bottle I've managed to find. An old thread discussed the bottles here: https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/Sunday-1116-Pit-Dig-m189456.aspx From the evidence, it seems that this Worner fellow was a shrewd businessman and recognized that marketing "Rattler Oil' to folk in the east and midwest, where rattlesnakes aren't common or present at all, was far more lucrative than marketing it to folk who saw the snakes as a common everyday nuisance or danger. From what I've read, rattlesnakes were extirpated from most of Illinois by the 1850s so by the 1910s this product would have been quite the novelty.
