I got to talk with papaw on Thanksgiving and he was having a good day. He said he started working for Chattanooga Glass around 1957 and started as an apprentice in the mold making department. He worked there until they closed somewhere around 1982. He admitted to making some extra cash by making different molds for people. He said what they did with them after he made them he had no part in but he generally got a new addition to his collection afterwards. he showed me some very interesting bottles he keeps in his workshop. He still does engraving at 85yrs old. But he mainly engraves guns and knives now.
