I found this jar this last weekend at an estate sale for $1! It caught my eye because I’ve never heard of Drey before. I don’t feel this is one that was made after Ball purchased them in 1920 because it doesn’t have the concentric circles on the bottom or markings on the side.
1/2 gallon, clear jar. Has bubbles in the glass and what looks like scratches in the glass too. Offset Perfect Mason under the E in Perfect. Anyone have an idea what it may be worth?

My Red Book #8 lists it for $20.-25. with the correct top. That is an old book, but I doubt the value has changed much

Looks like a # 843 in the red book 12. 1/2 gal listed as 4-6. I believe it's Ball made

I found this marking on the neck of the jar. “Y X “ I can’t really make out the third one.

Now that is interesting. Mold maker's initials? You got me on this one. It should kick up the value a bit whatever it is. Nice early entry to our community. Welcome Dawnett! :)

I checked all of my dreys and all of them have variations of those marks, would assume them to be Mold Marks placed in the thread area rather than on the base.

Is this an indication it was made pre Ball purchase? I also wonder if the marks are date or batch number?

Schram Glass mfg ( which had the drey name ) was purchased by ball in 1925 and all thats shown in "the fruit jar works" is that the maker could have been schram or ball but with the offset addition of "perfect" would figure it was early ball acquisition as drey was their economy line and would have wanted to couple with the perfect mason line of Ball. Just my opinion.
