Just dug and unusual strap-sided flask this past sunday in an 1870's 1880's eight foot bricklined privy. It is honey amber with the very early three banded screwtop. It has a center slug plate that reads "F&B Brandes Grand Central Depot New York". I have never seen an 1/2 pint strapsided flask before with the very early screwtop on it. Will post pics as soon as I can clean the lime residue off of it. If any of you experts recognize this embossing, I would greatly appreciate any info on it, as I have tried to research to no avail. Thanks

sounds like a good one. They used screw tops at least as early as the Civil War.
Is the top ground or fire polished?

Brande's Hotel & Restaurant was right next to Grand Central Depot in the 1850's and beyond, I assume it's one of their bottles, I look forward to a pic...
