The first year I find anything for Eclipse is in June of 1886 and they are advertising for a Tonic Beer.
1890 and the name changes to Eclipse Carbonating and they relocate to a larger building at 828 and 830 S. 7th Street. Henry J.B. Rose is president of the company.
An 1891 ad lists all the flavors they are offering to the public.
1893 and I find an ad for Aro-Mel. This drink was bottled in a Hutchison style bottle. I have one in my collection, but it is in rough condition. The back of the bottle states “2 ½ cent deposit is required for the return of this bottle”.
1894 and Henry Rose is no longer president. A Charles F. Scott is listed as manger in 1894 and 1895. In 1896 a Harry F. Judge is listed as general manager. He will hold this position until 1907. Eclipse will relocate one last time to 1521 Vail Place in 1896. In 1903 the name changes to Eclipse Carbonated Beverage & Mnfg. Co.
I have two other Eclipse bottles to share a half pint and a quart size bottle both date to the early 1900’s.
