I found this medicine in that pontil era dump I found with all the early broken puffs. The base has an odd circular ring that feels sort of puffed out to the touch. I don't think it's a pontil and it is definitely not machined as it has an 1870s or possibly older look and crudeness to it. Plus the top seems to be applied as it has a slight uneveness to it. I haven't cleaned it much yet since I have been quite busy, only a quick rinse and dry, so excuse that. Any ideas? I will try to clean off base more to get a better image of it.

I'm having trouble telling from the photo, but it looks to me like some sort of post bottom mold.
