Bought my first two American bottles today.
Probably both common as muck (being $5 for the pair)
how old is the Indianapolus one? Nice spun top but I don’t have a clue on most US bottles

The Indianapolis Brewing Co started brewing in 1887, survived prohibition by brewing medicinal tonics, and went under in 1948. Crown finish puts it after 1890 or so. I'd guess it's 1890-1920. Someone else can probably chime in with a better estimate

I don't know much about the ACL Soda but the Indianapolis Brewing Bottle is pretty common in both 7oz. & 12oz. Not sure if I seen it in a Quart? BUT, for $5.00 for both you got a good deal. Congrats. LEON.

By "spun top" do you mean hand tooled? (The photo is not clear enough for me to discern details of the mold seams.) If the lip is hand tooled, then your bottle likely dates before 1910.

After invention of the Owens automatic bottle-making machine in 1903, American manufacturers quickly adopted the technology. The majority of the accounts I've read indicate that it was producing most of the glass bottles in the country by 1910.

Moreover, since William Painter invented the crown bottle cap in 1892, your bottle cannot date before that year.

That will be the different names our bottles have in Australia (we call ACL bottles Pyros, Drugstores chemists etc) Spun tops are hand tooled it’s just the name we give them. I have a few nice looking ones like the crown seal in the middle of this photo

I assumed that "spun top" was equivalent to "hand tooled" but wanted to confirm that's what you meant so that I could narrow the production era of your Indianapolis Brewing Company bottle for you.

Even after six decades of the hobby being relatively popular here in the USA, antique bottle nomenclature isn't strictly consistent, or at least the terminology is not applied in a consistent manner.
