Found digging in Baltimore with a group of guys and nobody has seen one like this. The Hochstadter Co embossed on two panels amen a partial label on the front. This company made a type of bitters that I have located online but the bottle doesn’t look like this. I’m thinking it could also be whiskey or wine.

Man that is a great find!!! If you can get it cleaned up, it should be a high rater in your collection...

I plan on “dry cleaning” it since I don’t want to accidentally get water on that label. I’ll post some pics when I get the dirt off the outside of it. There doesn’t appear to be any issues with it aside from the dirt.

Rubbing alcohol and cotton balls should do it. Use cotton buds for precise cleaning around the label. Use carpenters tape to cover all of the bottle except for the labeled part. Apply clear steal such as Modge Podge. Shellac (also a clear sealer) can either be sprayed on like Modge Podge, or applied with a brush from a can. A alternative to all this is clear nail polish. I’m not sure which Modge Podge would work best for this bottle; gloss or matte. Try testing both kind on a piece of amber glass, or a modern beer bottle you can find on the side of the road.

Hockstadters made some cool bottles. I was pleasantly surprised to get this one in a "lot" that I bought on line. It has an applied handle and a pour spout.
