Found this thingy in a 1940s-1960s dump and have no clue what it is. No light shines through it and it has Made In U.S.A. stamped into it. Any ideas?

I agree with uncle Bruce - these Victorian feeders and waters come in all shapes and sizes and colors

It is actually for water to be hung on the side of a bird cage. I have several of different colors in my collection of them but not that one. Nice find.

It is sometimes called 'black milk glass' and light does not penetrate. If there is a thin spot and a bright light, it shows dark purple. Was mostly used for glassware other than bottles, such as bird feeder/waterers.
