Hi all, I thought I would post this just to see if I can get any feedback......
I bought this bottle several years ago (can't remember exactly where or when) but it must have been a random purchase at a flea market or antique mall somewhere in IL, OH, IN or KY. I am intrigued by the bottle. I love old cruder-looking shoe polish ("shoe dressing") bottles and I assume that is what this once held. It is heavy, kind of that squarish, thick chunky look and rather large embossing that looks "Old", but it has no pontil mark and the top looks tooled rather than applied. It measures 4 and 3/4ths inches in height. SO, asking for input from all your diggers, and bottle collectors and antique store browsers: Have you ever seen this bottle before? How old do you think it is? I can't find a single mention anywhere on the internet. I will guess it is from the 1880s, maybe an obscure competitor brand to Whittemore??? I guess I am a sucker for aqua bottles, as it doesn't have to be a "nice" or "different" color to get me excited.
