Went digging a few days ago, and although the packed "stoneware" layer seems pretty much tapped-out, just randomly digging through the ash and relatively thin layers of refuse proved more productive than I expected.

Got 2 new collection bottles; the 4 ounce Wheeler and 3 ounce Red Cross pharmacy bottles. Also included is a 6 ounce Heschong druggist from a dig a while back. In addition, I found 2 "The Shaker Family Pills" smalls, which I've never dug before. When the first one rolled out I thought "Huh, a sample size Ely's Cream Balm?", seeing how I had never encountered other rectangular embossed amber bottles with that lip finish before. A cool addition to the box full of smalls and samples. Also, it seems that they are worth more than your average small; a welcome revelation. Got a tall clear St Louis Garret & Co wine, 4 hutches, and other interesting things.

The broken beer is a "Sam Cohen Beer Bottler Kensington, ILL" which was absorbed into Chicago's South Side. The cracked BIM milk is a pint "Peoria Sanitary Milk Co." which would have been a dandy if intact.

Woohoo! A rather tough Peoria patent med. I have this size but have never dug anything intact from the company before so its discovery was a great moment. Loaded with embossing and perfect aside from a little internal cloudiness.

Nice gets again Plumb, I know we have a member who's looking for Pisos in different shades, he just posted about a day or two ago in case you're looking to pass it along... [;)]

Looks like a fine days work. I like to doll's head as well. I dug one in Philadelphia about 30 years ago. I gave it to a doll collector friend of my a couple of years ago and she turned it back into a doll. What's on the beer bottle?

Thanks for sharing,

Scott

Thanks people, it wasn't too shabby. [:)] It's always great adding stuff to the collection. The beer is a tooled slugplate "The Leisy Brewing Co. Peoria, ILL" which is an upgrade for a chipped example I had. The hutches are all Peoria examples; 2 "The City Bottling co.", 1 "McMaster & Derges I.B.W.", both common ones I've dug bunches of over the years, and another cylindrical "The Singer Bottling co." that I only dug 1 of before finding this dump. I really can't make sense of it, because they are supposedly scarce but are the most common in this dump. The broken base and shard is of a rare hutch I need and never dug shards of before. Also hit a busted rare 100 dollar hutch, but I already have one. Good knowing intact ones might be lurking in the layers though.

I like grabbing doll heads and limbs, as well as ones with broken bust/shoulders and intact heads which, as you stated Scott, are still of interest to doll collectors/restorers which surprised me a bit when I last checked it out. Got a box full I intend to sell sometime.

I have 8 or 9 or more Piso bottles floating around and don't collect them so I'd be happy to work something out.

Brian, man if I do dig any Boonville bottles they will automatically have your name on them. Well... Unless it was a quart-size Alligator druggist. Giving that one up might darn near kill me, lol. [:D]

Oh, well I guess the beer referred to was probably the amber 'blob". That one is a Baltimore Loop Pabst from Milwaukee. Nothing super special but I don't mind digging them. [:)]
