Too cold & snowy here in Michigan to get out digging, looks like in the far south you can dig all year long, must be nice. LEON.

If I could do it all year long, maybe I'd be bored with it. Gives me something to look forward to.

You could argue that it’s way too hot to dig here in the summer. I dig all summer long but it’s a different ballgame when it’s in the 90’s with 80% humidity. Definitely don’t punch too big of holes during that sort of weather.

It can get pretty hot here in the Summer. It easily gets into the 90's. Usually to much Foliage in Summer for a dump type dig & the Bugs& Mosquitoes pain in ass. I like spring & fall digs best but in fall you gotta worry about all the Hunters in the Woods. LEON.

Here are some of the items that came out of the half collapsed privy mentioned in post #300. At some point, someone had thrown a cast iron stove in there too. A tough dig but yielded some nice items.

Went out on the 5th with my sons for a dig on a new lot that I got permission on. Dug four holes; three of them were trash pits with some bottles and a few jugs and one was an enormous privy. The privy was too big for me to dig in one day, so I got one half dug out, then filled it in. The finds were extensive with a ton of bottles coming out, including a quite scarce monogram Marschner hutch soda, a nice Galveston pharmacy bottle, and a neat back bar bottle that unfortunately had some enamel loss. The lot was a saloon so the back bar bottle wasn't a big surprise. My oldest son dug two very cool porcelain signs advertising cigarettes as well.

The cigarettes signs are a great find. They look to be in really good condition.

Being a saloon Privy I would think there would be tons of Liquor Flask, Whiskey Bottles & Beer Bottles. Nice Signs. I found a Back Bar Bottle once, down by a river dump. Just up the Hill was a Saloon & it's still standing now, makes me wonder if it came from there 100+ years ago? LEON.

There are a ton of flasks (especially pumpkinseeds and coffins) but so far they have all been slick.
