I guess this posted info is from Shane. I just figured out that the [postings we add now go to the top of the thread. That is ok - just a surprise. I am not sure the finis was rolled in. I have studied a lot of the tooled tops an the tools used to form them after a thread of glass was put around the cut off top of the bottle. It was usually tooled to the desired form. A half round bead, or a squared bead, or a triangular shaped bead around the outside. Some were done for a metal penetrating formed head with a gasket under the flange of the lid. I guess I will include some coverage of the finishes hand tooled on early meds. I have seen some reveiws but there sure are a lot of different shapes. RED Matthews
