Well it does look like a bottom hinge mold but the pictures leave me more convinced it's 20th century. They are still just pictures though., I'll defer it to the pros now.

Not a pro and I may eat these words, but my gut says it's authentic 1850ish all day long and would appear to be an unlisted mold.

It's not a 54 anyway. I decided to look in the book and they aren't lettered. Maybe an adaptation on the 37 (no Dyottville).More modern doesn't mean 1960's or later, it could be centennial through the 1930's when I say that. Overall, it just looks newer to me.Where is Steve?

Probably GI-40A. Definitely period (C. 1850), not uncommon.

Thanks Jeff, I over looked GI-40A also. Still not sure it describes all the details this bottle has. I through it may be an unlisted mold at first also. I will keep looking to see if I can find another one that looks like it.

Jeff is correct Glenn,No period after GEN, four evenly spaced buttons on Taylor's Jacket and the smaller lettering overall. Here are two more Washington/Taylor Pint sized flasks. On the left is the GI-38 from Dyottville and on the right a rare GI-40C both different then your flask. Nice pick up, most of these are South Jersey based, but I also believe that some of these were definitely made in Baltimore and Western New York State .

Re: GI-54 Washiington - Taylor Flask ?

I want to thank everyone for helping me in cataloging this historic flask as a GI-40A. To bad it's not uncommon. I was hoping we had something new to add to the books. [:)]
