We get a lot of these case gins in Canada. I think the ABM ones were domestically made and the cruder applied top versions were imported from Europe. They show up alongside each other in dumps so seem to have been in use simultaneously in the early 20th century.
Where the English and Dutch, especially, went so followed the gin. Just ask Mister Gordon and the Beef Eater Family, among others. :) I'm going to go out on a limb and say the green tapered case bots were primarily Dutch early on. (You know, the embossment of their names are just a little more difficult for a quick North American pronunciation.) I once pulled a 14"+ Dutch gin out of Aruba.:cool:
