Ginger beer

I picked up this bottle today. It has on it Wolverine Bottling Works, Detroit, Mich. On the other side is A Genuine English Ginger Beer and a Bulldog on each side. I have only been able to determine it is Bulldog genuine ginger beer. Does anyone know when was this produced?

Does it have any number or letter codes around the base, or underneath? If there are, they may require good lighting and a magnifying glass to read them.

On the bottom Is W.B. Registered and it looks like small markings 3 0 S I

I have a few bottles with "30S1" and "30S". The 30S or 30 S marking probably indicates a mark used by Owens-Illinois bottle company to indicate bottles made in Streator, Illinois in 1930, the year after Owens-Illinois bought American Bottle Company.

That's interesting. I have found a lot of sites that have bulldog ginger beer with bottles, jars and cans from all ages but found nothing with this particular bottle. There was one site that mentioned a manufacturer from Belle Isle, Detroit but the bottles were green with a white label.

That's some great embossing on that one! Quite an unusual shape for a soda of that era as well.

It has been handled roughly but it still cleaned up pretty nice.

There was no bottler on Belle Isle in Detroit. It‘s a city park. Info I have on Wolverine Bottling from 1920 -1930 shows their address as 923 Livingston Ave. That street is gone now. As I recall, it was a company started during prohibition to have legal sales of drinks. I bet I read that in this forum some time ago. Pretty sure they were gone with prohibition in 1932.

I was suspect of the Belle Isle factory, I live nearby and didn't think it could have been there. Interesting that it was during prohibition, way before my time. Thanks for the information.

The Wolverine Ginger Ale company lasted at least into the 1950's. I got a Full ACL Bottle & a few empty ACL's. Not sure if I got that one? maybe but most my Bottles boxed up. LEON.
