First time I found a bottle and stopper together that matched.
I think the Johann Hoff is black glass,if so that's a first to.
The jug took forever to dig out but can't find any marks yet.
One needed a head the other a body.

That Hydrox stopper is interesting, I'm assuming that's not the same Hydrox as the sandwich cookie brand?

What a mix! This batch looks like it spans from the early turn of the century-1960s. CONGRATS MAILMAN 1960!

Still at the dump where the storm hit. It's been dug for years, nobody dug around the trees cause of the roots. Any thoughts on the big ass jug, I'm thinking something not real good was in it. Soda's are all out of the river, going to have to start digging for older stuff.

"I like BIG JUGS!.." Probably mid-1800s. I don't see any jugs with a mid banding in my neck of the woods. That dark chocolate brown might be an "Albany glaze." --I wouldn't discard the jug because of the neck damage (computer assisted printing should be able to fix it up but you'll probably have to paint it yourself, "Mocha Angelo." :)

Nice jug, even with a little damage I would prefer finding broken stoneware over broken glass. It's also much easier to do restoration work on stoneware.
