I said goodbye to Charley today. If you don’t remember I met him about five or six years ago while looking for bottles. He was 96 or 97 at the time. I used his house as home base and found a few great dumps but that all pales in comparison to the friend that I found! We spent many days talking about life and religion. Charley was the most devout man I knew and credited the almighty for his long and interesting life. He was serious about the Lord but could also “cut up†as many a story attested to at his funeral today. How different a celebration of life is for a man that’s nearly 102 and desires nothing more than being with his maker. I snuck one of these little bottles into his casket. I am the originator of giving away three-in-one oil bottles at baptisms, the obvious connection being to the holy trinity.

Charley gifted me this Genuine Essence bottle that he had sitting around his house. Perfectly fitting because he was the real deal and I’ll always have this to remember him by. Bottle collecting has enriched my life in so many ways and some of the best are not even about the bottles themselves. Thanks Charley, I went looking for treasure and struck gold!

Sorry to hear about your friend. Our loss, but he's so much better off in the presence of God than we could ever imagine in this mess of a world we live in. I look forward to meeting him when I'm called home.

Here's the little 3-in-one from the top post, thanks Jimbo for your words and thanks Eric for trying to help.

Re: RE: Goodbye Charley

Sorry Steve, about the loss of your friend Charley. Good friends are like precious diamonds, each with a fancy cut of their own. I love older people and the lessons they teach us. They have so much valuable information to give us if we will only listen. I'm sure he'll be greatly missed, but he and all the good times will live on in your
heart till you meet again one day.
Blessings & Love from your friend,
Stardust
