I found this while digging in my back yard. (I live in New Orleans, 9th Ward) It was about 18” deep and it’s location was likely the site of the privy. I can’t quite make out the stamp but my best guess is “H KENNEDY 8 GLASGOW”. Anyone have a better guess? I’m so curious about it!

I think you're right about the stamp, H. Kennedy is a fairly common pottery stamp I believe

Yep that’s definitely it! I found online that H Kennedy was a brewery in Glasgow 1866-1929. I wonder if the numbers in the middle indicate different batches or something?

Fairly common bottle even whole. I'd suggest you look for more bottles in the hole, you could find some good ones. Good Luck. LEON.

Good to know. It likely contained ginger beer, from what I read? I did dig around a little more, and found an old boot black bottle, and some marbles. The hard clay soil and brick rubble makes digging in New Orleans a bit of a challenge.

If you had a probe you could probe the sides of the walls & bottom to see if it contains more bottles or even a privy next to that privy if it is a privy. Could be lots more to be found. LEON.
