This historic Pikes Peak flask was found in confederate ghost town of Indianola, Texas in the 1960s. Located in the bay of Matagorda, it started off in the 1840s and became the main port of Texas with Galveston 2nd. Indianola was one of the main entries for the spree of Czech and German immigrants coming into Texas during the early to mid 1800s. At one point it was occupied by the Union troops. The towns life was short lived. It was wiped out in 1875 by a hurricane, rebuilt, and wiped out again by a hurricane in 1886. Bottles such as 1700s onions and a mallet have been found on the beaches. In addition, bottles have also been found at the bottom of the bay at Indianola. At low tide and with a northern wind, you can walk to the bottom. A large portion of bottles found in Indianola resides in my personal collection.
