Heres a small little chunk of glass I'm pretty sure is an insulator of some sort, hoping someone might know just what sort? Its aprox. 1 5/8" in length, 1 1/2" square, nice 'Lockport' green color, middle on one side has a rounded groove and there is a hole straight through the center.

Would love to see some photos in natural light that might show the color.

saddle block LRI, one of the more uncommon styles or LRI's- you're looks to be in pretty rough condition, but as far as i can tell it's an unusual saddle block style (more so just a block...)and the colour's brilliant, not just your typical aqua. Prices vary a lot, so i couldn't really put a value on it, but it's a better one. Should you feel the need to sell it for way less than it's worth without ever knowing what's it's worth let me know, i'd love to own it and still not know what's it's worth myself.

Thanks for the info & pics! Surface that one on the right is an exact match once I oriented my properly, because so much is missing [:(], I had to crank the exposure on my pic to get the details, its actually alot darker and a deep 'lockport green' identical color to the Merchant chemist bottles. I am going to ask him the particulars on it when I see him.

This one was in a box from a relative I believe, stuff to put on the bay for him, I had an idea it was an LRI as there were several others in the box as well.

I think these are properly called 'Radio' insulators?

And these aqua ones were also in there, I knew these were LRI's from a previous thread.

Thanks Again for the info!

Follow up needed. I have as window here in front o me with 23 insulators on the sill. In my early days of glass collecting I had over 200 insulators. I am still trying to get a solid glass mold heating insulator for my article on solid glass scrap pieces used to pre-heat a job run mold.
I will be back later. RED Matthews

I think these are properly called 'Radio' insulators?

Yes, they're radio strain insulators, or radio antenna insulators. They're from back in the day when people had radio antennas set up in their backyard or on their roof, designed to insulate the guy wires from the antenna itself.

RED - I've only seen a couple solid pours over the years that came from insulator factories, usually from dump digging. Here's a couple photos:

The vast majority of solid pours that I've seen for sale are from recent commemorative production.

There has been hundreds of "solid pour" insulators come out of the Hemingray dump, just that they are rarely whole, and almost all melted and slumped. Alot I see have the base broken off, or are missing large chunks. This may have been from the process, but they probably also exploded because they would not have put them through an annealing process, so many people cracked apart.
