I picked this Ayer's cure up awhile back for resale, and noticed it had an additional seam other than the diagonal mold seam going all the way around and over the lip of the bottle. You can see the seem all the way through to the inside also. Any ideas?

Neck and lip, it is a heavy seam and can be felt.

must be some type of mold damage dosnt seem like it could be an actual seam.
Its hard to tell anything from a photo.

This looks like a Red question.

It looks like this bottle has a normal seam in red and a strange line that is also on the applied lip. A second pair of seams would make this a four piece mold which I don’t think is the case.

When you say the line is on the bottle and the applied lip it just leaves me scratching my head wondering how. The only idea I have is when the bottle was a made and still in semi malleable state a repair or other contact caused the odd line.

Here is a picture showing how the line goes all the way through the glass, looking through the mouth of the bottle you can see it is even more raised on the inside walls of the bottle. The line goes through the embossing but does not appear on the lettering. It looks as if it were two bottles fused together ( I know this is not the case but that is the best way of explaining it). The bottle is authentic and was dug. I assume a mold repair also but cannot explain it.

Is it raised like a seam would be? When looking at the base, it looks more like a color striation. Some other color of glass was in the blob and extended in a line as it expanded in the mold. It's the only thing I can come up with, especially if there is no ridge that would be on an actual seam. Because on the base, it seems to fade a bit on the right and has the look of a color band of sorts.....
