Hello. I found a soda bottle near Chelsea, Mass embossed with Bellingham Bottling Wks, C. H. Hobden, Chelsea, Mass. The lettering is inside an embossed bell.
Can anyone tell me anything about this bottler? I assume it was located in Bellingham square, Chelsea.
Thx, Sarah

That's a nice one, I don't know anything about the bottler but I like the pictorial embossing. I've also never seen a bottle that specified that the bottler didn't want it back if it was chipped. Out of curiosity, how much was the rebate? I'm always curious about what the deposit values were back then.

At three-cents each, I'd have to find five or six discarded, returnable beverage bottles in neighborhood where I grew up from 1958 to 1967 in order to buy another soda. I can remember that a 16 ounce "Royal Crown Cola" or "Bubble Up" cost me fifteen cents back then, but I can't recall if that included the three pennies deposit on the fresh bottle. A small bag of Fritos, 7/8 ounce, or a candy bar, was a nickel.
