I picked this bottle up along with some others a couple months ago from a seller on eBay who lives in a town near the end of the panhandle in West Virginia. It was dirt cheap so I went ahead and bought it. The bottle is of course nuked, but take a look at the top. I'm guessing the bottle and top were made with two different batches of glass, one containing different levels of chemicals that change the darkness of the color after being nuked. It's probably common, I'm assuming... [8|] Still think it looks interesting, shows the factory glass making process from a different example.

it looks darker because the glass is thicker there
sad someone would ruin a nice coke like that

Ah, I see now. The glass is also very smooth around the top too.

I think there is a slight possibility that the top was replaced? What does the inside of the lip feel like? It seems unusual since I have only seen applied lip crown tops from England and other overseas locations.

interesting , it does have a smoother look than the rest of the bottle.
I didn't even consider that. Photos are always hard to judge.
Agreed , applied top crowns are uncommon.
