Oh boy, do I have a great pair of jugs to show you fine folks!

The first one is this sort of ovoid Albany Slip jug, I think it's a quart size? maybe? My local expert estimates 1850's on the age. Bought it locally here in western NY.

The second jug is another ovoid one, this one I believe to be 2 gallons, has some cobalt blue on it. Also had my expert weigh in on the age when I stopped to buy a cheapo cork for it today, he says 1830's, 1840's like the jug in my other thread. Only bigger. And a bit more.....primitive. It's got some marks and stuff on it. But I really like imperfections in my bottles/stoneware....up to a limit of course.

Okay I gave the big jug a deep but gentle cleaning, it was mostly cleaning some on dried brown crud up on the lip....

anyway, I never did post that many pictures of it, and considering I don't see these in my price range often I'm going to post a few more pics.

My uncle entered it in a contest at a county fair and won a prize. It has a wooden stopper in it. My mom had "loaned" it to him with the stipulation it be returned to her when he passed. I am now in possession.

Wow debodun that's both kind of sweet and also sad. I don't really know how to follow it.....

uhm, I do have more pictures of jugs...because I would like this to keep going...these were at the same store I bought the 2 gallon ovoid:
