y'all might remember this snuff that I dug up this past fall. Have drawn a blank in getting very much information until now.

It appears in , of all places, the 2010 Kovels Antique & Coll Guide. That's pretty cool, cool , cool......

Hey, PTB...

There were two listings in their 1996 Bottles Price List... I knew I'd seen the name before but it's not listed in too many guides, apparently...

Have you (or will you) cleaned it up all purty an' nice? Pic?

Hi PTB,
Do my eyes deceive me or does your bottle differ in the spelling, Venable vs Venabbe? Nice bottle!

Venable is correct, looks like the other bottle has an embossing error.
It should have been noted in the guide.

It should have been noted in the guide.
I'm thinking that they thought that was the correct spelling??

Hard to say for sure. A lot fewer people were literate back then. They didnt have the luxury of a phone or email to verify orders. Mistakes happen...

Hey, PTB...

J. M. Venabbe & Co., Petersburg, VA, amber, 1860-1870, 4 1/2 inches.....$77

The other entry is the same except it says: Medium amber, rectangular, 4 1/2 inches.....$154
