What year did the US government require ingredients to be listed on soda bottles? I have a Better Goulds Beverage bottle from Mississippi, found in Georgia, that lists this on the back:
Contains SUGAR WATER
FRUIT JUICES
CARBONATED WATER
ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR & COLORING
1/10 OF 1% BENZOATE OF SODA

Google points me to the 1966 Fair Packaging and Labeling Act but as far as I can tell it only regulates labeling what the product is and not exactly what it contains. Listing ingredients seems to not have been mandatory on all foods until the 1990s?
The only dating I have on this particular bottle is that it's probably from after 1956.
If anyone has an answer it would be great if you could provide a source too.
