Steve,

I haven't been to the site very much lately, but I figured I would stop in just to bust your chops! :)

First, let me say... What took you so long to notice New England flasks?!

Second, I think you might actually have a GI-81 there. The GI-81 has 3 ribs INCLUDING the base rib, the 81A has two ribs including the base rib. I have attached a picture of my corrugated ribbed Lafayettes (from left to right) GI-80, 81, 83 and 84. Note the 80 has 2 base ribs and the 81 has 3 base ribs.

Yours looks like a pretty flask, and worth the repair.

Mike

Thanks Mike,so you count that small base rib huh[8D],how rare are these? I havent seen the 1/2 pint sizes very much on eBay or private auctions for that matter. It is a pretty color, very close to my Kellys cabin bitters in color.I like your collection there great looking bottles.Usually once I start in a new area of historical flsks,I dont stop.I now have all the early Dyott made flasks, all of the Coffin and Hay,all of the Bridgeton New Jersey and need just two baltimore flasks from the federal hill works.I think because I have spent so much time in New England of late it was inevitable to start collecting these.I will be in Boston the week of the 22,23,24,25 of July, and back again two weeks later.

Steve,

As I mentioned before, you are welcome to visit while you are in Boston. It may be worthwhile if you have an interest in New England flasks and bottles. I would also enjoy the glass conversation. I am roughly 45-60 minutes outside of Boston... just stay out of rush hour traffic!

Let me know!

Mike
