Mini cannon??

Found this while walking a construction area .
One on the bulldozers must have kicked it up.
There used to be a big 7 story building there, I dont know yet how old the building was
But I do know it burnt down in the 1980s.
My guess on the buildings age maybe 1880s
You can see how it was in intense heat once ,it is kind of melted.
I dont know if it was just under the building or in it when it burnt.
Thats to bad it lasted all those years and then in 1980 it gets messed up.
I'm still happy though.
I cleaned it in acid but I do not see any markings on it.
Got a lot of old dings and dents on it.
Is it a signal cannon? Whats it's age?

cool item. It looks like it may have been a decorative item. matters what it is made of. In the photo it sort of looks like pot metal??
