I was wondering what the story is with the mountain dew. I read the collectors sites and understand the "bottle by" ones being collectible but $3000 for screw top party jug and 10 oz. paper label crown top selling for over a $1000. The reason I ask is I dug a bunch of the 10 oz. ND/NR ones that were embossed. I only kept two and One I sold at a show for $5. I kept them because I thought the picture on them was cool! Just wondering if that was the biggest mistake in my bottle collecting hobby,so far? I still know were the rest are if houses haven't been built on top!!!!!!!?????

I agree that the Mountain Dew prices seem bizarre. I could never understand why someone would value a Mountain Dew bottle more than a Celery=Cola bottle!

Unless you find some rare variation I think there are tons of the green 10 oz ND/NR Mountain Dews. I would be happy to get five bucks for one.

There appears to be enough competition for Mountain Dew that anything rare gets a lot of interest.

I guess I need to pay attention more now that I am home. Mountain dew bottles in my area (Appalachia Mountains VA/WVA) seem to have been pretty popular to drink Quite a few around. I don't follow ebite . I only collect not sell. Somwhere packed away amongst quite a few others I have been able to collect 4 of the jug bottles. Now I am going to have to dig them out.

The 10oz embossed ND/NRs aren't all that rare; however, that doesn't stop some people from gouging the heck out of them to unsuspecting buyers. Five bucks is a fair price for one, unless it happens to be the canadian then you might get 10 to 20 for it. The best embossed ND/NR I have ran into is the One Pint version which books, in Bridgeforth's latest book, for $300. If you find one of those keep it.

Why the paper / foil label ones are going for huge prices is the fact that they are paper label and aside from being used in only a few areas that I know of, are prone to deterioration, and most were tossed to begin with.

I sold one of the 10 oz embossed bottles on ebay about 6 months ago just to see what it would bring. Started it at 99 cents and it sold for about $7. So $5. is a fair price.

Could you be more specific on the one pint nd/nr mountain dew bottle that books at $300. I have a 16 ounce mountain dew with raised letters that remind me of psychedelic lettering that I figured wasn't worth anything.

A picture is worth a thousand words. The bottle in the left is the regular 10oz ND/NR bottle (there are at least four different major variations in these, and quite a few minor ones) which more closely resembles the "One Pint" bottle, while the bottle on the right is the ND/NR in question.
