Due to circumstances, I don't get out as much as I would like...But ,last week I made a day of it and found this local bottle. Thru Goggle, I've narrowed the age is from 1923-1928.

Embossed on side:

Bradley's Drug Store
On The Corner
Matoaka,W.Va.

I'm excited about this bottle because I live with-in 10 miles of Matoaka. It's a small coal/railroad town that came into existance by way of the defunct Virginain Railway, and Nofolk and Western both joined here. In the '20s, the town had approx 650-1000 residents.

Thoughts on this would be appreciated.....

Thanks
Ron

What's not to like? I wouldn't give you much money or trade you a great bottle for it but I'm not from around your neck of the woods. Local bottles are special, I hustle for them from my birth town and adopted town and value them alot. Congratulations on finding one that is meaningful to you. I have to say it's attractive and amazingly clean.

I understand that dollar value wouldn't be much....That's not really a consideration for me. I'm not planning on selling any of my "keepers" (only 10 or so)........ this has never been about money.

As for the couple of boxes of commons, and such...... would probably give them away before trying to sell.....

Thanks
Ron

I agree Ron that it isn't about the money. I have been blessed to have had bottles worth in the mid 4 figures but those are gone now and I get just as excited when I get any bottle I really like. I sincerely hope I didn't come across as though money was the most important factor. Jim

Oh not at all Jim....And sorry if I came across as .......whatever[:)]. It's just that I don't even consider money in the equation for the bottles that belong to me. I do love this bottle hobby, but not for monetary reasons. I think that for most of us members on this forum, historical value trumps money value.

Ron congrats local druggists are a wonderful thing! For that era bottle it sure has a lot going for it. Here's a bit of info from David Whitten's wonderful site:

Crescent moon shape……… uncertain. This mark is seen on the bases of pharmaceutical / prescription bottles, both on unmarked “generic†examples, as well as lettered bottles from various druggists in Vermont and less often from surrounding states (for instance, MA). I assume this is from an unidentified glass manufacturer in the VT, MA or NH area. Any info would be appreciated! (Thanks to VT bottle collector/specialist Barry Conolly for bringing this particular mark to my attention!)
