I am on CL, a guy from western mass is advertising some "old" bottles that were from his great aunts estate.
He said his 90 year old aunt had died 5-10 years ago, and she had bought the bottles at the brimfield place when they first started it.
the price was fairly low for the 12 bottles.

I saw pontil marks on the bottoms, there were no seam lines, they looked crude.
When I first got them I thought I had hit a home run.

after I had a few friends look at them. and I learned a great lesson about bottles/reproductions. They are like bottles reproduced at the Jamestown glass house.

Do i try to sell them at the flea market as "reproductions"? They are nice window lookers for a non collector..

Here are some photos:

Hi, They look impressive. It is a hard decision to know whether to sell them or just keep them. It cost some one with a lot of skill a lot of money to make them, and I would probably just keep them. Another option is to price a couple of them at a bottle show and harvest some value. if you need it.
At this point, do you have any concept of where they were made? If they were in my house, I'd not even try to sell them unless I needed to. I would think their cost of making, is so high, I'd keep them. RED Matthews (a person that has collected glass for 76 years now.)

I'd find a well lit area of the house and display them..

They do display nice, that is why I bought them initially. They looked COOL. and the price was right to take a gamble.

I was told that at jamestown they have glass blowers who make free blown bottles, (in the same method as old bottles were made). in similar shapes and sizes as bottles that were made in the early days.
