My weird bottle of the week-

I thought this would be easy to look up, thinking it was another catsup bottle, but I just don’t know that’s what it is, now. All I know, for sure, is it’s an unusual color and it’s dirty, and sits really crooked with lots of bubbles.

I couldn’t find any catsup bottles like it- I did see some “marigold Canada Dry” that resembled it? Anyone know anything about this one? Totally unmarked.

Is that a ground lip? Pretty sure Canada Dry didn't have anything but crowntops (but would be interested to be proven wrong)

It REALLY looks like it’s ground- did they do that with a screw top closure?

Yes, this appears to be a fully molded screw-top from the turn of the 20th century. For a short time before the ABM, the bottles were blown in a full mold, then the tops were ground flat to accommodate the screw cap. Here's another example:

Looks more like a ketchup to me than anything else I can think of, but never seen a ketchup in that colour or with a ground lip before. Maybe a particularly fancy ketchup? Definitely nothing to do with Canada Dry.

That’s what I was thinking, too. I thought I’d find it easy, Trying to look it up,but it’s not there, so far. Kind of a gross color for a ketchup bottle….The color looks like dried ketchup- from dollar tree-(off brand…. Way off brand!)

Interesting…. That’s a beautiful bottle! I owe you some bottle show pix! Got lost on my way over there and finally got there at the very end. Our friend, Herb had a table there,and should be coming up with pix of it- (nice guy…. Neat to meet him). it’s so nice to FINALLY have any shows at all.

Your bottle has a wine bottle shape, although I can't remember seeing a ground-lip, screw-top wine bottle. Not only that, but the color is off for an American wine bottle. Nevertheless, I do have more spirits bottles with ground lips than I first realized. Let me make a guess that your bottle contained a wine product like a cooking sherry.

Both of these bottle have ground-lip, screw top. The Klondike whiskey gives an idea of the time period.

These are the only ones I’ve found that are even remotely close and the closure and color are not right. Also I think Canada Dry were textured.

Thanks for the kind words.
Your bottle is a TOC sauce bottle.
I've found them back in the day, but never in that color.
Great find in that color.
