New Local Medicine from Santa Cruz, CA

I "typically" only collect poisons, but I am making an exception these days for any bottle that I can find that is embossed Santa Cruz, CA. I think it is really special to collect bottles that come from where you live. Sometimes you learn something new and sometimes you are reminded of the old []. This little gem is embossed "Bixby's Drug Store, 107 Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz, Cal." I love it!

Gotta love those hometown bottles. My home towns population is 1100 today. But I have 1 bottle from there. Good find!!!!!!!!!

Nice drug store. There are quite a few bottles from Santa Cruz. Good luck finding some more.

I've collected SF Bay Area local bottles for 35 years or so. Bixby's also had an embossed dose glass made. I sold my example several years ago during a stint of unemployment. Although my dose glass collection has recovered somewhat since then, I've never found another Bixby's glass for sale. Santa Cruz does indeed have enough bottles to make a collection unto itself. Various pumpkinseed flasks, hutches, milks and a good number of druggist/pharmacy bottles can be found embossed Santa Cruz. Although I've never seen one, there should also be at least a handful of embossed Santa Cruz citrate bottles.
