Im from Southwest Ohio and have recently taken up the hobby of digging. Ive always lived in this area and never really paid any attention to what all was around out in the woods, in particular a house that i now know was around in the 1700s but had been burnt down sometime back in the late 80s. I finally got up with the property owner and since then i have been in two holes. I find so much its a little intimidating. this is just a small portion of what i have found in those 2 holes. Is this something out of the ordinary or a pretty common experience, because there are tons more left and tons more to dig. Thanks

Looks like typical common 1940's-1960 stuff. Some Milks & ACL Sodas from those years are collectible & valuable. Whats on the top shelf I could barely see, looked like your older better stuff was up there? Would be nice if you could find a Privy there. Welcome to the site. LEON.

Yeah, keep at it. If there was a house from the 1700s there, then the trash from then is there, too. Some good stuff out there somewhere. Good luck.

I agree with hemihampton they used outhouses into the 1900s. There should be multiple privies out there I would find the main house and the privys should be within 75 feet of the main house usely downgrade from house.look for divots in area and probe. There are videos on YouTube of guys showing you the best way to go about probing.when you find a privy go to the bottom.best stuff (oldest) will be at bottom. As 4 there dump site I would go to the deepest part of the dump lay a tarp down and take the top two or four foot off and then just go to the bottom of that also the oldest stuff will be at the bottom good luck.as you go deeper u should be able to somewhat date the objects. Over here by where I live they found a very rare blob top bottle 16 ft deep down by Ameren. Digging.treat the property as if it's your front yard an you may have years of great digging in that location..I've lost good locations by teared up the ground to much.ps them privys are not as nasty as you would think.id rather dig a privy than walk some of the creeks around here for sure lol. Also YouTube magnet fishing I drop strong magnets down Wells of old properties like that I find some good stuff also
