Stopped at a local goodwill, checked out their glassware section for the first time ever. I'd never done this before because I'm very new to this and told myself I was only going to find bottles/jars and not buy them. There's nothing wrong with buying them or seeking them out in stores of course, but I'm kind of broke at the moment, so...

Anyway, I found this tub for $5.99

I saw that lovely blue color along with rust and oh, yeah. I bought it all right.

The largest jar and the one with the orange lid were modern. Meh. But otherwise it contained two big Atlas E-Z Seal jars, one small Atlas E-Z Seal jar, and two Mason's Improved jars. Oh, and various jar lids.

Mason's improved jar #1 seems the oldest of the bunch. It's most definitely the dirtiest and has the most faded embossing. In fact I had to fill it with water to get a decent shot of the front.

It reads PAT NOV 26 67 and 81 in the center.

Mason's Improved jar #2 is in much better shape, also is clear. Much newer.

The first of the two large E-Z seals and the small one have the same embossing on the bottom:

the other large Atlas EZ-Seal doesn't have nearly as much embossing, just the letter 6 or 9

Pretty happy with these finds. Now I just need to work out how to get the rust off them...

Southeastern CT, U.S.A. Also in Adams & York Co,
That clear Mason's improved isn't that new. It is still over 110 years old. If the other has a ground lip (which it most likely does based on seeing the bottom) it is from the 1880s-1890s. I've never found nicer old jars (with exception of ball or atlas) this age at my goodwill, however as far as other bottles go I have found some good ones. Great stuff, and a great deal at $6 it always is good to check your local goodwill once and a while, especially the day after they stock stuff.
